Moser 12 bolt + Spohn Adj. Torque Arm = floor board problems I want to eliminate
As the title says. I have a Moser 12 bolt that I have had for about 15 years, as well as a Spohn TQ arm that I have had just as long. When I first installed these items I noticed that the TQ arm hit the floor board a bit, so I moved my axle off center to add clearance with my adj. panhard bar. Still hit on bumps so I cut a hole and added a metal plate with a hump in it. Still hit at times.
Fast forward to today. I want to center my axle and get rid of this issue all together.
The TQ arm needs to live closer to the driveshaft so it can go up the tunnel more easily during suspension travel.
The TQ arm comes with 2 sets of holes. The inner ones are for guys with 9" fords.
I can't move the TQ arm in because the housing has a lot or reinforcement ribs in the way. I don't want to grind them all down.
My plan is to cut the current mounting holes off the TQ arm mounting tab so I can use the inner holes. I will then have to adjust the tranny x-member to accommodate this change.
Does this sound like a bad or good idea? Thoughts?

I did exactly what you are thinking about 5 or 6 years ago. I've been to the drag strip multiple times with it like that and zero problems (mid 1.6 60ft. times and 6 speed). Just make sure you locktite the bolts and check them a few times. Mine have never loosened.
