tubular control arm spring issue
Hello TGO,
I installed lower tubular control arms. Not sure of the brand, bought used. Installed Moog 5662 front springs. Now when i go over dips in road it sounds like my front end is disassembling itself(loud thump). I raised the vehicle and found the control arm spring pockets are too small in diameter. Not sure how. But in the pics you can see the lower coil that is causing the problem. It is both sides. Any ideas? grind the spring coil flat? hollow out the spring pocket? i'm sure i cant be the first with this issue but a thorough search came up with nothing. here are some pictures....

Re: tubular control arm spring issue
So i ground out the pockets from the inside to increase the inner diameter size...NO CHANGE. In fact, it may be worse. I painted the area i worked to coat it. Maybe it's time to remove them and take to a machine shop to have the spring pockets cut out and have larger diameter ones installed?.....or i may try to grind more...

The springs are the issue not the arms

Re: tubular control arm spring issue
GOTCHA! now i need to find replacements. I like the constant rate spring idea. They have a firm handling when cornering. I had a pair of variable rate off of an '84 but i'm not sure they will work the way i want. plus i took off a half coil to keep the stance where i want it. Does anyone have suggestions?
