Need a measurement..total tie rod lengths.

I would like to know what the total tie rod length is on a stock suspension F body. Wanting to know if the l and R are different lengths.

dont have them handy but both side should be about the same length. if they are different the k-member has shifted or something is bent. Not really the end of the world so long as the steering wheel is straight and the car turns properly.

Re: Need a measurement..total tie rod lengths.

they should be really close to the same length, plus or minus whatever crappy production tolerances GM had in the 80's. i'd say within 1/2" is where they should be unless something is bent or shifted over.. my car had a bent steering arm on the driver's side spindle, which made the tie rod on that side almost 2" shorter than the other side, which made the turning radius much bigger in one direction than the other. i fixed it by heating up the spindle with a torch and bending it back to where it looked like the other side and adjusting the tie rods accordingly... when i put a different set of spindles on a year later, my alignment stayed right on so i got it really close to where it was supposed to be.
