Stearing box adjustment (TO TIGHT HELP!)

Well I've been trying to remove a dead spot from my steering. The only time it seems to go away is when I tighten the worm shaft, although it becomes quite tight and the steering no longer rebounds until i turn the wheel far enough either way. Tightening or loosening the hex screw on the top seems to have no effect in any of the adjustments. The power steering hoses also seem to become quite warm although I am unsure if this is the cause of that. Another thing to note is when i turn the wheel i can hear a faint whining that sound like the power steering pump? Its louder than normal is what im saying.

Guys have anything i could try to do? the steering box was just replaced, had a bit of play, but now everything is not adjusted correctly. whoops haha. Thanks!!!

Did you just pick up a 'replacement' steering box from the local parts store? If so, those are REAL hit and miss.... your replacement box could be worse than the one you are replacing...... I hate doing that job four times before I get one I can live with....

That said, there are TWO adjustments on the steering box. Check the service manual.
