Castle nut stuck on spindle

Hi guys so I'm new here and yesterday I ran into a bit of an issue, my front passengers side wheel bearing exploded without any warning signs. The thing is I just replaced them about a month ago and maybe put 200 miles on the car. So no big deal right just put some new ones on but the issue im having is that my castle nut seems to have welded itself to the spindle preventing me from doing anything. Just wondering if theres anyone out there who knows how to get it off or if I'm just going to have to buy a new spindle, thanks.

And by the way it's an 86 iroc z if that helps

Have you tried heating the nut red hot?

If i get that thing cherry hot it won't damage the threads? I heated it up with a propane torch but I can get my hands on an asedalyne torch of needed

I'd cut the nut off with a cutting wheel.

Re: Castle nut stuck on spindle

Get a can of MAP gas and try that. Get it nice and hot and then hit with an impact or a breaker bar or maybe a ratchet and hammer combo

Re: Castle nut stuck on spindle

If its stuck on there is probably already some level of damage to the threads. If you heat the nut it will grow & do less damage to the threads coming off. Make it glow then hit it with an impact like Midias said.

Thanks guys, I have someone coming in an hour to torch the nut off but I'm just going to bite the bullet and order a new spindle because I can't run a thread chaser because that metal is to hard.

Thanks everyone for the help I'm really impressed with the response time on this site!

Re: Castle nut stuck on spindle

if the exploding bearing did enough damage that you can't get the nut off, then the spindle is probably junk.

Possibly to tight or not tight enough.

Managed to get it off without murdering the threads to badly but im going to try running a die over it to see how it comes out. If not I found a pretty nice used spindle/knuckle for 60$ free shipping
