Make the 3gen wider in the front
Hello
Would like to make the 3gen a couple of inches wider at each side.
Spacer are not my favorite, because the wheel gets further away from the bearing => more wear.
Is there another A-arm that fits the 3gen, but is a little wider?
Maybe like the 4gen?
grtz, D

No, but fabricated tubular circle track arms for the second gen should bolt in. What's your plan for the struts?

Check out morrow. I may be asking him for a set in the future. Unsure if he IS selling them / making them. Check his thread out.

Re: Make the 3gen wider in the front
what is your reasoning to make the car wider? is it just to fit wheels? or some other reason?
if its just for wheels, its cheaper and makes more sense to buy wheels that fit the car directly.

if your wanting wider arms just to get rid of your spacers, it wont work due to the whell to strut clearnce. i would suggest just going with a wheel with the correct offset

Re: Make the 3gen wider in the front
I have beautiful wheels....
Don't want to change them.
Problem is, If I want them in ET10 version, I have to take them 11" wide.
In the back, that works, but in the front, it will be too much..
Now they are 9.5" in ET 25 but it
must be 2" wider.....

Re: Make the 3gen wider in the front
You need to flare the front to make those other wheels fit, a longer control arm or hub wont help with a 11" wide wheels with +10 offset. They need almost 1/2" more offset to work, and that's with stock brakes.

Re: Make the 3gen wider in the front
A 10.5" wheel (18" or larger) with 5mm positive offset will bolt right on with stock brakes and fit. An 11 would have to put the extra 1/2" of width outboard, making about 11.35mm offset
which might make the wheels start to hit the wheel openings when turning. And this is with stock 10.5" brakes. Any different setup will push the wheel out farther and make the problems worse
