Head, Cam, Manifold Combo's (Post Your Combo)
I made this thread to better everyone in the TBI portion as to what heads cams and manifolds are needed for each other and what run best together.
Me, my setup is stock but am looking into GM Fast Burn Heads and Edelbrock TBI manifold....not sure on what cam is good for these heads and manifold...thats where I'd hoped someone would help me out.
So, start posting your TBI setups whether 305 or 350. Thanks alot.

Re: Head, Cam, Manifold Combo's (Post Your Combo)
I'm running (once I swap it in) a 305 bored .030 over. The heads are the factory castings (I don't have the numbers) but they have a three angle valve job, rebuilt and cleaned up, milled down (to fix warpage but I think they're at 52 cc now). The cam was custom ground at a local shop to the tune of 204 deg int/204 exh deg duration, .429" int/.452" exh lift, on a 116 deg lobe seperation. The intake is still the untouched factory manifold. In the 88 Camaro, it had a modified factory air cleaner on it with the THERMAC stuff ripped out. The TBI is factory as well.
That is it except for the fact the exhaust broke off at the y-pipe. Once that happened, it got fast enough to take a 3rd gen IROC running a paxton blower by a link through second gear. After that I was done cause the engine ate 3rd and 4th out of the TH700R4.

Re: Head, Cam, Manifold Combo's (Post Your Combo)
I've run the following combo on several engines:
comp extreme 4x4 218/226 .462/.480
various stock 305 heads modified for increased lift
performer RPM carb intake and adapter
454 TB and 70 lb/hr injectors
shorty header and dual 2.5" exhaust with x-pipe
stock 350 bottom end with flattop pistons
All of these combo's on a 350 block (3 in all) ran the car in the high 13's at around 98 mph. This is in a 3600 lb G-body that is primarily auto-x'ed with a little drag racing thrown in for good measure. The reason I've had so many motors is that the car is ran hard and I've had some oil starvation problems that took 2 motors to track down.
Tuning: I made aproximately 320 hp via learning to tune my TBI setup. I say this because I couldn't even get it to idle by itself untill I started into the chip.
Tunign teaches you alot about your engine, I learned that the cam I was running is about as big as you want to go on a stock head. Any more and the HP you gain doesn't really offset the torque you loose down low. This setup ran best with a 2200 stall s-10 converter and got around 23 mpg on the highway and 16 around town.
This is about as fast as you can go for less than a grand.
