car wont start

heres the run down and what i've tried.

car wont start. fuel comes out of the injectors. I dont think i'm getting spark. I pulled a plug and held it next to/against the cylender head and no spark.

In the past sometimes right after the car starts i would have to run it up to 2500-3000 rpms for about 30 seconds until it settles down to keep it fron stalling, and then it would idol just fine.

I thought maybe bad TPS, or MAP (those are the two sticking out of the passenger side of the TB unit right?) so i tried pulling each individally, and both, hoping to put it into limp home mode, no luck. tried pulling the spark plug advance one too (cant remember what its called) no luck again.

The plugs look pretty bad (leaky valve stem seals) but i would think that the car would run worse and worse if it were plugs and wires, not just quit out of the blue (when it ran, it ran fine).

My dad suggested the coil, that sounds possible to me. I'll try to check it tomorrow. He also said he had a similar problem with his 89 buick lesabre. Said he changed the ignition module (do our cars even have one?) and then changed the CPU which solved the problem.

Well what do you think it is. If i get a new cpu would this be a good time to upgrade to a different one? and start tuning? etc. whatever. Let me know what you think and what options i should pursue.

Re: car wont start

hmm well somethings not right with this picture because no spark= no fuel. So you know you have to be getting spark somewhere. check wires and plugs, coil, and dont forget the icm. you said plugs looked bad. let me know what you find after checking your ignition circuit

Re: car wont start

how does no spark equal no fuel? whats the best way to check a coil (only way i know is to swap in a known good one)? and i'm assuming icm is ignition control module, where is that located? and where is the ecm located too while i'm asking.
