TBI RAM AIR OR NOT? PIC!
Hey whats up everyone I have a pic of one of my friend's camaro. As far as I know he bought that elbow piece then went to home depot to buy some pipe then added all together. Could this be effective by any chance any gaines of power or so? Reason I ask I have more friends that have a TBI so yeah. As for me I dont have this engine I have the TPI just thought I would posted out there for you guys. Let me know what you think

Might be closer to cold air. Cooler more consistent air incoming temps are more desireable than drawing cold air at point car runs off 02 sensor only to have it rise to 100d F after a while.
TBI GM ECU cannot handle forced induction all that well.

I wasent sure what to call it, I just went ahead with ram air on this one, but thanks for correcting me on it though. I still think its a great idea what he has done to it though.

Re: TBI RAM AIR OR NOT? PIC!
i have a set up that is close to that . i used my stock air cleaner , re-located snorkel to front center of air cleaner housing , connected stock flex duct in reverse to TPI inlet & cut several inches off snorkel . the base of the TPI inlet was gutted ( where the filters would set ) . looks almost factory . the flex elbow duct gave me a little trouble , it would not straighten out . cured that by hanging it vertical and a little use of a heat gun . ( be careful if you do this with the heat gun/hair dryer , on plastic a little heat goes a long way ) . anyway i now get cooler air from in front of the radiator . seems to work for me , stuff like this is what "REAL" hotrodding is all about . good luck .

Thanks. Tony.

This is pretty cool. I came up with a similar design for a Caprice with the Sun Coast Ram Air Hood using a RAISS CAI....I haven't done it yet because the dang RAISS is so expensive....but here is a pic of what it looks attached...also..the space of tubing in between the air filter and the carb hat would be a great location for a MAF sensor...in the event that some one would do a MAF conversion on their TBI system...he he he

Re: TBI RAM AIR OR NOT? PIC!
Yours is not bad at all. By any chance do you have a stock hood or aftermarket? Theres a hood going on here on the forms that look like the new 5th gen ss hood. That would be nice with your setup if the hood was cut out.

I'm just saying about he made his on box for the air intake or so. It would go great with that hood if the hood was functional.

No kidding. That 90 over the TBI looks stock. Anyone know where it came from and if it would fit? might be a junk yard deal.
