Best conversion article?

Best conversion article?
I have an '83 305 carbbed engine (L03) that I would like to convert to TBI. I have been reading everything I can find on the process (I have about 30 pages bookmarked) and now I am even more confused. I want to convert to TBI using factory parts as I don't have much money. One stumbling block is that I installed a Summit K1102 cam so tunning will be an issue. Another issue I have is that my 700R4 has been converted to an auto TC lockup in 4th. Also, I have read that I need a VSS. I have an Autometer 5291 speed sensor which is a 16 pulse. Will I need to mate a different VSS to it?
I know I'll have tuning issues with this setup and either need a custom chip or maybe a EBL. I am leaning towards the latter, but not until next summer.
All that being said I am looking for the best conversion article to help me out and remove some of the confusion.
If I get a 1227747 ECU what would be the best chip to use until I can afford an EBL?
Thanks for any suggestions you can present to me!

Re: Best conversion article?
I would start by posting your car on craigslist, and then buying a car that's TBI...
if that's not an option,
I will always say to start with the car you want, not buy the car and make it the car you want...
if that's not an option,
- go to the junkyard
- unplug the large plug on the driver's side of the brake booster.
- separate the engine side of the plug from the light side
- now take the ENTIRE harness out of the car, and remove each componet, and plug it in to it's respected plug.
- the ECM is on the part of the harness, and the wires runing to it are under the passenger side fender(there's a clip holding them there that you'll have to undo) take all of that.
- also remove the throttle body(duh) and the intake unless you've got an adapter...
- now reverse these directions on your car
- and now, give it a tune.
I will always say to start with the car you want, not buy the car and make it the car you want...

Re: Best conversion article?
Cute... I finished a 2 year frame up resto on it earlier this year. I had it down to every nut and bolt with LOTS of hand built mods. I have about 1,500 hours invested in building it... It will not be sold until after I die...

Re: Best conversion article?
that was a serious list, unless you want to make the harness from scratch, which few on this forum are capable of. your best bet is going to be to get the complete system, and swap the entire thing over like I stated in my last post.
I wouldn't start the swap until you have either
- access to chip burning equipment
- an EBL system.
is this car going to stay automatic?
Why do you want TBI?
What are your goals for the car?

Re: Best conversion article?
I was posting about the engine itself on the thirdgen TBI forum because I consider it the best of all I have found. In truth the vehicle is not a camaro, but a Land Cruiser that I put a 305/700R4 into. The TBI was intended to gain a better running engine while on steep mountain trails which create havoc for most carbs. It is not fun teetering at 45*+ on a side slope and having the engine stall because the carb can't handle the angle.

ok, then follow steps 1-6, skip seven, instead, 7 would be to mod harness to Land Cruiser and install components on car. and then do 8. it's really wouldn't be that hard, you're just wiring the ECM to the engine.
