need a little info on this setup
Hello I just got a new camaro for 100$ with no motor for my wife. I was looking around for a 350 motor an found this http://easternshore.craigslist.org/pts/4990023200.html
I have a TBI setup an I want to know if it will work on this motor.
I also would like to know what years motors I can bolt a TBI set up too.

If you are looking at that much you might consider a motor from summit or some place like that new. Then you get warranties.

I would assume you need to find the year range. Something about the angle of the intale bolts needs to be right to bolt the tbi system too. But if there's already no motor in the car, and you do get this one why not go with a nice carb?

Re: need a little info on this setup
If you are sticking with the TBI setup, you need a motor, or more precisely heads newer than an 85. I believe the manifold bolt pattern changed in 86 (center bolt valve covers are an indication). The reasons to stay with a newer style motor can be summed up as, roller ready, 1 pc rms and if you get the heads with it, they will match your existing manifold. If you go with 2 pc rms block/crank, you will need to get a matching flex plate/ flywheel. Also from what that ad shows, you would be paying for the carb and manifold that you probably will not use. You don't know what cam is in that motor either so might have to change that. Some things you need to take into account before you jump at that "deal". When all is added up, you might be better off with a new motor from a reputable source as Wifescar has stated.

After looking at that ad again, I may have assumed wrong that the manifold and carb are included. Short block for 900 and you would need all the extras? I'd definitely pass, but that's me.

...and not many 400s are actually 400s, or "nice".
There's just not many 400s left any more, and those that are seem to be .030-over (or more) already, or have excess core shift/thin cylinder walls.
