Re: DUMB QUESTION

I just bought a custom chip from Brian. I will have the vehicle running next week so I can give you an answer as to performance at that time. I have done a complete new top end using Vortec heads and a host of other parts. When I called him and told him what I was doing, he gave some suggestions to help me get the most out of my tune. He was very patient with me as I am new to the custom chipping of a car-I've never done it before. I filled out the build sheet of what I was doing on his website, ordered the chip, and it was in my hands in 6 days, I live in the Virginia Beach area so it wasn't that long for shipping. His reburns are free if you change anything down the line. I am pleased with his customer service and care, but I'll be able to tell you how it performs when I get it running. If I wanted to bring the car to him, he would go through it and use live stream data to adjust as needed and tweak/reburn a new chip also.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

You have probably read one of my threads about getting screwed over by a chip guy. My assumption is he would ship it internationally, I mean why not, you are the one that gets to pay for it? What kind of vehicle do you have?

Re: DUMB QUESTION

I should have it finished within the next couple of days. I have a 92 rs 305. I just put vortec heads on it shaved 0.030 to keep the 58cc firing chamber, performance products intake, stroker cam, headman hedders and y pipe plus a 2.5 " exhaust with a xlerator brand muffler, rebuilt distributor, champion 2 core radiatior and 16" fan. I have removed all the pollution control except for the catalytic convertor which I'm required to have, and I also changed the injectors out to a 65lb injector that are used in police package vehicles in the states during those years.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

Senior bear, I just finished putting the car back together and the response of that chip is great! Plenty of throttle response, crisp shifting, the car seems to have livened up I'll say.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

No problem. I did call Brian today to ask him what fuel to put in it, sounds funny but I didn't want to fill the tank with the wrong fuel and have it run horribly before I burned through it. Since my cam isn't wild or anything I get to use 87 octane....yeah!!! Also I've got to set my timing at 10* and she noticeably likes it. Since your emailing him, being on the other side of the pond and all, make sure you give him every spec you can, how you drive, etc. so you're able to get the best bang for your buck. I know this much, the car IS better than it was before, I don't know how much is to the tune and how much is to all the parts, all I know is there is some harmony between all of them that has proven to be a good result.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

One thing is for sure no matter what with changing to headers, I recommend getting them ceramic coated along with the "Y" pipe also if not already purchased that way. Second get a mini starter and do away with that 30lb thing and also get heat wrapping like a moroso heat blanket pn 80805 and a gear reduction starter pn 17579s.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

Just got back from vacation. The starter works great, being smaller and a lot torquier I should say. It has a different sound when starting and the blanket made a difference. However I did find my alternator wasn't charging though and the fix for that was to take the wire that goes to the pole for the old alternator that's mounted to the starter and run it directly to the hot side of the battery. I changed both my cables to top post as I went to a top post AGM battery and installed it into the pigtail provided in it. If you do this-the smaller starter, you'll need a positive battery cable that's 2" longer to make up the difference.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

I couldn't get that 14x3 air filter under my hood. I went with a 14x2 offset base from summit-works great! I'm using the stock O2, I can't see a need for a heated one since the sensor is in the header close to the engine, the exhaust gases will be plenty hot?

Re: DUMB QUESTION

Yeah, I've got a 92 rs 305. Those mods I put in my previous post are what I've done to it. If you go with the 305 I'll help you out as I can since I have just gone through this endeavor. I believe there will be some differences due to the years and if you have a v- belt system vs. the serp belt.

Re: DUMB QUESTION

Just to clarify, passenger side? If you stay with the 305 and go the Vortec route, I can give you a few pointers on what you have to do when you change over the intake, fuel lines, and vacuum arrangements.
