high speed shutdown

I just noticed that my car shuts down at around 110 mph, only when in overdrive. If I leave the car in drive it will run past that with no problem. I also don't think that the problem is rpm related because if I floor it the car will run to 7000 before it shifts and never miss a beat. If it is in drive and I go faster than 110 it runs fine but as soon as I put it in overdrive it cuts out. It will kick back in after just a second but will not go any faster without cutting out. I did not think there was a speed limiter on these cars (other than the 305 lol), does anyone have any info or suggestions? 305tbi, open element air cleaner, flowmaster, everything else is stock as far as I know.

The Lo3 engine, which you have, is speed limited at 110. Thier is a tech article on how to remove it, if you really want to athttps://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/unlimited.shtml

Thanks jr305, my older IROC didn't have a speed limiter and I didn't know that there was one on any camaro. I will fix it shortly.

Yes the car redlines at 5, but if the transmission wants to let it scream, I say let it rip!:hail: :hail: Anyway the car doesn't seem to strain at high rpms at all. My iroc would stop pulling around 5500 but this car pulls hard until 7000. It might be hopped up a little, I don't really know. Also, I am just waiting for an excuse to put a hot 350 in, just can't justify it with the wife until the 305 kicks the bucket. I agree with you on the flag, it irks me to see someone who disrespects it intentionally or just out of ignorance. Later.

Yep, but I don't know why. The only thing I have done to the car is put an open element air cleaner with k&n on it. I don't know if it has any other mods or not but I don't really think it does. I don't think my old iroc would even get to 7000 in gear, it just seemed to run out of steam. This car doesn't feel as fast as that car did though. Go figure I don't know what gear ratio I have either. Is there an easy way to tell?
