Rear Main Seal

87 Trans am. I still think its a 350 but may still very well be a 305. Is the rear main seal 1 piece or 2 pieces?
Thanks

Car: 86 Corvette, 89 IROC, 1999 TA

hard to say if you arnt sure its the origional engine, get the casting numbers off the rear of the engine and look them up to see what you have, if its a newer small block it will even say 5.0 or 5.7 on it. the casting numbers are located on the drivers side of the engine behind the head where the bellhousing of the tranny bolts to it. if you can see the other side it will have the date code. also there is another stamping in front of the passanger side head on a small ledge sorta thing by the water pump... do a search for engine id's and im sure you'll find a link to a helpful site... if your engine has origional heads and they are centerbolt heads it is a one piece rear main
