Camaro gauges in a Firebired or vise versa
I have an 86 Iroc with an 89 firebired wiring harness. Getting ready to try to hook up the gauges but not having any success finding a diagram to tell me what wires are where and what I need to move. Anybody done this or got something that will tell me what I need to do?
Thanks

What happened to the 'roc's original harness? How did you end up with an 89 'bird harness in it? Was it an engine swap?
If it was an engine swap, you can use the original iroc harness. There's actually 2 wiring harnesses in these cars. One for computer sensors and computer controlled things (fuel injectors, distributor, O2, etc) and one for manually controlled items and instrument senders (headlights, oil/fuel/temp gauges, radio, etc)
The harness for the regular stuff goes into the firewall on the drivers side, and for the computer stuff it goes in the passenger side.
If you have the whole entire firebird harness, and you want to plug it into the iroc gauges, I think you're going to have one nasty cut and splice job on your hands.

I bought it this way! Never would have done it myself but its what I got now. I have most of the Iroc harness but not the interior harness. If I can just get a couple of more things figured out I can run with the Firebird harness. At this point and cut and splice job is no biggie, they are all over the car! I don't mind doing it as long as I can make it work

I have an 89 service manual for firebirds. I'm not talking about chilton crap either. it's a helms manual I got from GM, so it should have what you need. I'll try to scan the appropriate pages for you tonight.
As for figuring out where it plugs into the iroc dash, I can't help you there.

Hey,
That would be great! Got a couple of Chiltons and they are better then nothing but a pretty short on details. Actually what they are is a wiring schematic and not a diagram, and they always leave off exactly what you need! Anything you can get me would be great and you can post it here or send it to my email addy.
Thanks
