Slicks/Skinnies on stock wheels?
Has anyone mounted slicks on stock 3rd gen wheels?
Did you use screws?
Does anyone know what factory rim widths were available for 3rd gens?
Since these are cast wheels and you can't have them narrowed (or widened), what is the narrowest rim width (for skinnies up front)?
I currently have my slicks and skinnies mounted to early style steel pontiac wheels(yes, pontiac. Look at the picture closely). The rears have been widened to 9in and the fronts narrowed to 4in.
The rear wheels (with slicks and tubes) weigh in at 55lbs. and the fronts are like 40lbs. I was just going to buy some centerlines, but I like the stock look better.
Thanks

I think the iroc wheels are 16x8 and the RS's are 16x7s. In any case, I have my drag radials mounted on the irocs, my tires are 255/50s and they look good. I think you could fit a 10 inch slick without a problem.

Just buy aftermarket rims, My warriors with 165 radials weigh 28 lbs, each. The rims I took off with 205 radials weighed 49 lbs. And the rear rims were alot lighter, also, I forgot to weigh them, I just know they are alot easier to put on the car.

John,
Are the warriors similar to stock wheels in appearance?
If I can't find anything close to stock, then I am going to buy some Centerline auto drags.

I ha a set of MT Sportsman pros on my 16" GTA rims. They fit nicley, however, I spun them on the rim, blew the tube and got a flat after I launched a few hard launches. I would recomment MT ET streets on 16" GTA rims, w/ screws or w/ no tube. I am also thinking about having the front rims narrowed, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Does anyone know. BTW the GTA rims are 16x8

My warriors are centerline also, That will give you an idea of what they look like. I tkink they are compareable in price to the auto drag's. I have seen a camero with auto drags and it looked good.

i've got a set of mccreary's(I think they are about a 26x10 dot slick) on some monte carlo rims (15x8) and they work fine. Worked on my friends car at a 12.25. It's a lot cheaper, but it's all about your budget. Drag rims aren't badly priced, but I found a few other go-fast things to buy for that much.
Btw, we didn't use screws or tubes with a 1.70 60'.
And that's a good question, can you have the stock rims narrowed? They'd already be spaced right, and have that sleeper effect.

Hey, I'm buying a set of Jeep Cherokee rims.. Dont know the part number
17" Im getting them spaced and im mounting Slicks on them
Spraying them gold... Only a 3rd Gen or Camaro/Enthusiast will be able to set them apart from the WS6 rims on my GTa Trying to preserve the stock appearance

Car: Junk
Engine: Junk with nitrous
Transmission: Junk with gears
My friend vadim (aka No Rice) runs a pair of Hoosier 9inch slicks on stock firebird 15X7 rims and although the bow out a little bit on the rim, they work just fine, he goes street racing on them every weekend so it must work pretty good Don't know about skinnies, but he has 205/50's up front on the same rims and they seem to make a pretty good combo with the big slicks.

There's no replacement for displacement!

Thanks for the picture John. I think I am still partial to the auto drags though.
Thanks for all the other responses guy. Doesn't sound like there is much of a choice for rim width.

I've been able to fit MT ET streets 12.5x15x28 on my 7 inch wide rims...
Now, thats not what is best cause its kinna bubbly, has you can see on the pic.
But they do make drag radials for ANY rim out there...
