Wiring diagram
Found a melted wiring harness on the passangers side right by the firewall. I have no idea where the wires come from so I'm in need of a good wiring diagram.

4 wires, cann't tell the colours, one may be green. The harness has letters d c b a, p.e.d 4 & and the smaller side has the same letters & p.ed.15
Found it about 1/4 way in from the passanger side fender right against the firewall

I'm doing this for my son
He is pretty sure that is the one, the harness pushed into a bracket on the wall.
With this melting would it anything to do with a Code 22 or 33 that you helped us with last night?
Changed the TPS and the car ran okay today.

Hello Trans Am 88,
That connector is the A/C harness connector. It being melted would not have any effect on the code 22 or code 33. However the code 22 could have an influence on the code 33. Disconnect the battery positive cable for about 5 minutes to clear the trouble codes from the computer and then re-connect it. Drive it for awhile to see if the codes come back. I am including a troubleshooting chart for the code 33 for you to use if you need to.

Thanks for the help Trickster.
He just joined the A/C wires with connectors for now.
You seem to be a very knowledablge person, where can I get a good repair manual for 88 trans am.
I'll get back to you on the Code 33 later because I changed the air intake system to a K & N aftermarket custom fit at the same time I got a code 22. I've been told that changing the air intake t could cause problems for the MAP sensor and it's about $700 to replace in Canada.

Hello Trans Am 88,
OUCH!!!!! on the $700.00 on the MAP sensor. Are they gold plated and warranted for life. Haynes and Chilton both have a repair manual on the market for about $15.00 (USD). Neither one of them comes close to having the information that I have posted here. The best repair manual is the GM service manual for your car. It can be ordered from HELM's and goes for $90.00 (USD). They are currently in stock at the moment.
Here is the link to the HELM's website.

If you need any more information give me a shout. The information that I have sent you so far came out of a GM service manual.

Sorry I siad the wrong sensor for $700 it's the MAF one that cost that much
I have a Haynes book and it's not that great.
I want to install a new round 3 inch air intake system with a bigger air cleaner and some people say that will wreck the MAF can I get some input on this.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!! that is still a lot regardless of the sensor. Here, I was able to get a new one from Microtech with a limited lifetime warranty for $180.00 (USD). As for putting a round 3" air intake system and a bigger air cleaner on the car, I don't think that would cause a problem. What you can do is open another thread and ask for opinions from others, either in this forum or the TPI forum. You can probably get some ideas as to which is the best system to put on it.
