Good places to buy a 350 Shortblock?...
Hey everyone,
I just started my first motor build. I am going to build a 350 for my 91 RS Convertible. I am aiming for 350-375hp. I need a short block. I already have a set of 2.02 iron heads. And I havent made up my mind on the rest yet. But I want to get ahold of a block so I can get started on it.
For a first time builder, do you recomend I get a used block that needs to be machined? Or should I buy a shortblock with new pistons, rods & bearings already installed? If so, where is a good place to buy a shortblock from?
Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

To be honest, for the power levels you are attempting to accomplish you would do very well to buy the whole thing from a GM performance dealership. You will spend a lot more trying to machine and assemble it your self, especially if you are new to the whole thing.
If you don't want to get one from them there are other companies that assemble crate engines. That is the search term to use.
Lastly check out the classifieds here and on other sites, including e-bay. Invariably somebody is changing something where what they have no longer serves the purpose.
All of this depends on what you want to spend, and how you want to pay for it.
