Tach problem
Hey guys, my stock tachometer in my car is messed up. When running it stays at like 5000 and when i rev it, it just goes to the 7000, and it never goes below 5000. Is it just a bad stock tach? I'm putting an autometer tach in when i get my new motor, will the autometer work ok or will it do the same thing? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Tach problem
It's a pretty easy fix. Your autometer won't do it. It's a bad resistor on the back of your stock tach. You can find the details on how to fix it here:

Edit: on the older tach like you have, the black chip looks the same, but it's not on the removable card. It's actually on the back of the tach. It's just slightly harder to get in there to solder in the resistor, but the pin numbers are the same.
