88 Iroc 350 won't start
I looked at an 88 Iroc that was in good shape and I was going to buy it, except the day I was going to look at it the owner called that he had run it out of gas and now he couldn't get it started -but he had also said the day before that it wouldn't seem to idle very good. It had a fast idle and rough running.
What is the most logical reason for it not to start? He had put some gass in it and when I looked at it it seemed to have a gas smell at the exhaust.
Another wierdness was that battery had gone dead a few weeks before.
I thought that it may have been because of the battery and the computer hadn't recalibrated yet?
The last pain is that it has a lot of added on electronics, major stereo sytem, neons and lastly a car alarm -I didn't know if this could be the problem?
The exterior is great, with good paint and no major dents, the interior is fair to poor, it shows 67k miles and I could probably get it for 3K.
Any idea on the probelms and/or opinions on the price?
Thanks, Glen

I AGREE TIMING is the problem but for your dead battery issue im pretty sure its a blown capacitor in that stero system and its constantly drawing power casue it wont hold a charge :P I just had the same problem with my 88 Fire Bird lol took me awhile to get it straightened out. GOOD LUCK

Anytime you have a won't start problem, it's the same three things on any engine. Do you have spark, fuel, and compression. We'll assume the last. Check fuel pressure and spark.
