Are the torque specs for SBC's universal? Or, are there different torques specs for different engines?

Vortec intake bolts arent supposed to torqued down to the uh... I think it's normall 30 ft/lbs? I wish I could remember what I was told, but it was closer to 20. I had a bolt snap on me taking it to 30 ft/lbs.

Oh thanks, thats good to know. I would have way over-torqued my vortecs had you not told me this. Arent regular heads supposed to be torqued to 65?

Headbolts are supposed to go to 60 or 65, cant remember. The intake manifold bolts are supposed to go to 30 from what I can tell for the average SBC. But I think vortecs use a smaller diameter intake bolt than older heads.
