clicking sound on new 350 irregular pattern
swapped the 305 for a crate 355. I hear a clicking sound all the time when driving but its not clicking in a pattern, its random but frequent through all gears . When it clicks it feels like the car lunges a little like its getting more power and it revs a little higher, not enough to see it on the tach but you can hear it. It clicks once, sometimes twice sometimes 3 times every 4 or five seconds any ideas were to start?

Re: clicking sound on new 350 irregular pattern
I am afraid I'll blow the engine up if I drive it and I need to get rolling down the highway again. I have searched TGO but I cant find anything similar to my problem. The exhaust manifold has a leak where it connects to the y-pipe and I plan on taking it to the shop but I need to figure out the pinging sound first.
Any suggestions on where to start?

Re: clicking sound on new 350 irregular pattern
Is it a click or a ping? In your first post you called it a click in your second you called it a ping? My first and probably best guess check over your plug wires. When they arc to say a exhaust manifold they happened to be a little to close to it will click and cause some driveability issues on the cylinder until the problem clears. This can be seen usually at night where any arcs will show up as flashes. Unless its directly shorted to something then there will be no flash so still check over your wires for cracks and melted spots. Exhaust leaks can cause clicks too but dont really cause drive ability issues. If its a ping its a totally different story.
