Buklding my first engine, tips/advise?
hye guys
so i decided to build up a new engine for my iroc and got most of the last bit of parts i was waiting on to do so, just waiting on jegs order now
anyways, i ended up getting a 350 block that was full out machined and already has the crank, bearing, pistons, rods ect pretty much the rotating assembley in it already from a local engine shop. did have a cam in it but i already had one so they knoecked off a few bucks and kept it.
so im very nervous about building this thing, any tips or advise before i get started? would it be more worthwile to just pay a shop to put it together?

Well, if you are going to build it yourself, I would at least have a service manual or a Chilton's book handy. Lots of good reference stuff in them. A complete set of tools including a good torque wrench too.

You will need a piston ring compressor, balancer installer, and feeler gauges for sure, most everything else is standard fare in a toolbox. If you are reusing the pistons and they haven't been cleaned, you will need a piston ring groove cleaning tool also.
