Effects of a bad MAP sensor on your motor ..

Well, My computer is throwing code 15 and 34.

15: Low temperature indicated at engine coolant temp sensor

34: Low voltage (high vacuum) at mass air flow sensor (or MAP sensor)

I just put in a new 180 degree thermostat, though

So, what might cause the MAP sensor to trigger a code? It being bad or just, like the code says, high amounts of vacuum?

If the MAP sensor is bad, what kind of effect would it have on MPG?

The reason Im asking is that Ive gotten 13 -14 MPG city and highway, all around, for the last two years. I used to get 15 city / 23 highway, then practically overnight, it went down to that. Such a drastic change.

If anybody knows what effects a bad MAP sensor would have on a car, that would sure help.

It's an 84-Z28, 4 BBL, Non-HP, 305, smog pump removed
