Engine installation
Hello,
I have a new 350 engine, with a 700r4, and hedman tubular headers with EGR. I would like to assemble those parts on the floor and then put it in one time on the car. Will I have enough clearance to do this ?
Thanks
Marc

Re: Engine installation
The car would have to be really far off the ground to pull it off (few feet). I would not attempt without a engine hoist leveler. You'd have to dip the tailshaft of the transmission pretty far if you try make sure you don't pack debris inside it.

Re: Engine installation
the car on 4 jack stands is more than enough height
you won't get the engine in with the driver side header attached
ABSOLUTELY install the engine with the tranny attached and a hoist with chains is fine.
you also need a floor jack to aid in holding up the tranny a little as you wiggle it the final 4-6 inches
once you get the engine placed onto the motor mounts and verify all is ok, you then lift the engine a little with the hoist and install the drivers side header
did you get your Percys seal-4-good header gaskets or mr gasket dead soft aluminum gaskets? or, do you want to keep tightening your header bolts hoping that will stop the exhaust leak.........which it won't

Up to you. I know I had a heck of a time trying to swing in the new 383 motor with solid motor mounts and getting it to line up. I eventually ended up using a 2x4 and sludgehammer to knock the mounts around into position and that was with a extra set of hands a long boon hoist with carb plate mount.

Re: Engine installation
i guess it must be different with an auto trans. because whenever ive reinstalled an engine, ive always had my t5 mounted in the car and it seemed relitively easy.
why on earth would you attempt to install a motor with headers attached? get everthing in place, then jack up the motor and slide the headers in.

Heck, I took a stab at it but had to remove the drivers side to get the engine back in.

Hello,
Thanks to your help, I reached to put the engine in the car with a hoist with chains and without the driver's side header.
I have to go installing the parts.
thanks
