gauges go crazy while cranking
so i have an 83 camaro with the 305 crossfire injection i am almost positive it has a ground problem under the dash when you crank the starter the gauges peg to the highest they go and get stuck i have 2 questions has anyone had this problem before and does anyone have ground distribution chart for this year thank you for your time

No but thank you i have wiring dgrams just dont know where to start lookin for the ground besides for under the dash as i am sure u have seen under there not much room to work with

I would check the connection from the starter to the battery and then to the ignition, everything runs through this metal tube attached to the block/transmission and if a wire breaks down (due to heat) and contacts the tube it will cause this problem.
This happened to me on my 83 I had 13 years ago.

It's supposed to do that - it's the 'bulb test' function that operates from the ignition switch when you crank. It's meant to let you know that your gauges/idiot lights are working. I think it works on the temp, and maybe oil pressure, and brake gauges/lights.
Of course they are not supposed to stay up there after you stop cranking, so there may indeed be a problem to track down. Sticky pointers maybe?
