1989 Iroc-Z Carburated L98 Daily Driver?

Alright, well I'm interesting in purchasing a vehicle that a member on here is selling. It's a 1989 Iroc-Z with a rebuilt carburated L98, it's got port and polished heads with 1.5 RR's, High Energy pushrods and lifters, a mild cam, and is set up for a 125 shot of nitrous, it's also got a fully built 700r4 with standard reverse shift pattern and 2,800 stall. The body seems to be in good shape, and with a built tranny and engine I really think it can last for a while if taken care of.

Here is the for sale ad: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...8-florida.html

Now, I really don't drive much, maybe about 50 miles a week. About a year ago I had my '94 Trans Am with full bolt ons that I used as my daily, until the valve train failed on me. So, I was wondering, would it be possible to purchse this car and maybe modify it a bit to turn it into a daily driver/weekend warrior? I know I can afford the gas, and I will have some money left in the bank after I buy it to fix what needs to be repaired. But I was wondering, what sort of mods would be required to turn it into a decent daily driver? Should I find a shop that can tune it for me?

Also, it has no A/C, which really isn't a problem since I roll with the windows down about 95% of the time. But when it does rain I do turn the A/C, so what would I need to hook up a factory A/C system in there?

Well, thanks.

Sounds nifty. I'd ditch the carb and put the INJ back on.
Maybe not the TPI but def ditch the stumblerator/bog-a-nator..

I know FI is better on gas, but I have always liked how easy it is to work on carbs. My dad knows plenty about them. But, what would I need for the carb-FI swap? It seems everyone is swapping the other way around, maybe I could just do a trade with someone. Do they sell conversion kits anywhere? I don't mind drop a grand or two if it'll net me better street manners and fuel efficiency, but I really don't wanna lose too much power. Well, thanks.

Found this article online, it says:

A TBI fuel injection system requires the following components: A TBI throttle body and intake manifold, a computer (a.k.a. ECM; electronic control module), a GM electronically controlled distributor, an electric fuel pump, a fuel filter, one pressure-safe post-pump filter, and a fuel return line to tank. Also required is a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor, an electric spark control module, fuel pump relay coolant, a temperature sensor, a knock sensor, one oxygen sensor, an oil pressure switch, a vehicle speed sensor, and wiring harness.

Damn, really seems like a waste though to dump the carb system which seems to be working well and put a FI system in. Looks like they do sell kits, would any of the EZ-EFI systems work for this application?

In my serious opinion straight from my heart, I absolutely hated my 305 TBI setup that I had a few years back. I'm sure some people here have had good luck with them, but the TBI had the worst bog when you floored it that I've ever seen in my life. The mechanics I took it to all said that "it's just what they do." but just like all 6 billion people on this tiny *** planet, everyone had an opinion that's worth $0.02. I'm sure that it's very possible a TBI can be good. Just not that I've seen.
