EGR - 17085813

Someone tell me if im a idiot. Because no matter how hard I try I can not get the right egr valve. Nobody has one in stock and when I order 1 its never right. Mine is from a 87 camaro 5.7 gm part number 17085813. No matter how I order it and from whoever i order it from the egr temp sensor opening is too small... I have the old one in my hand with the PN on it.

What am i doing wrong?

has anyone else ran into this?

does that make my use egr's more valuable. No jk !! I would just install one from a 90-92 fb and have the code 32 reprogramed out if the part is so difficult to get.

Re: EGR - 17085813

I also found a listing for a acdelco 214-5591 noted for automatic the other one I listed noted for manual. Had no idea there was a difference must be a different pressure break.

OK, now i'm getting confused. My EGR has the stamping on top "17085813" but does not match the picture that goliath88 posted. The one I pulled off of my 305 TPI has a portion that protrudes into the intake from the bottom of the EGR. I will try to post a pic later.

Question is will the EGR with the "flat" bottom work in place of mine on the 85 305 TPI??

Re: EGR - 17085813

i sorta just went on the same mission.. heres what you can do. Call the dealer and ask them what mas the factory part number to the egr, then depending who you buy it from, ( got mine at autozone, so its a Wells.) go to

http://www.wellsve.com/custom_search...61&submit.y=18

this is where i got my info after two days of straight internet surfing.. when i looked it said you dont need an orrifice washer..

hope this helps you out

Re: EGR - 17085813

Hi Guys. Came upon this thread because im dealing with this same issue. Have a car that dies at almost every traffic light and stop sign when it gets up to temperature.

I understand that there is no exact original equipment part to replace 17085813, however I found this 89 corvette egr valve which looks identical to the one in my 1989 350 TPI trans am engine. Does anyone know if this will work?

I'm personally not sure on the corvette egr but I'm pretty sure it will work, I bought the California emissions egr instead since it was the only one I could find that the temp sensor was able to thread into. Every now and then I get an occasional idle drop at stop signs but she idles great now and doesn't hesitate like it used to, best of luck for this Pain in the a$$ situation

Re: EGR - 17085813

Just ordered a 214-5538 EGR valve from Ebay. In a AC Delco box with GM part reference to 19210684, the valve itself is marked 19209981 and has no other markings, save for MADE IN CHINA, no rochester or AC stampings like the old ones. Hope it's the right one. not sure if the markings on the valve are supposed to match the box label, you would think so but who knows..

Will report when I get it sorted in a few weeks..

I'd be skeptical with the mismatched part numbers, you wont really know until you take the old one off and compare the two

the "made in china" BS is more than enough to make me suspicious as to the quality or absence of . use with caution

Exactly, but with so little clear information, & so many crossreferenced part#'s for EGR valves, combined with shrinking availability of NOS OEM parts - sucks but I guess I have to be the guinea pig on this one. Hate crap parts.

Maybe delco like so many went to offshore Mfg for some parts? it's 2014 a lot of the good parts are hard to find now. so much junk parts out there...

Re: EGR - 17085813

I have the same problem. Went to O'reillys and had them order me up the one that their computer said would fit my car. It wasn't it. I already ordered one from rockauto and it was the same exact one other than saying "Borg & Warner" and not BWM or whatever theirs said. One of the guys their started looking for another EGR valve for my 1985 Iroc-z stock 305 TPI. He started listing off part numbers for his co-worker to look up and the only one that looked like the original EGR is the Cali emissions one. It has a longer neck and a bigger hole to accept the Temp sensor that is already on my rig. The thing that it has to accept is a brass plug with a threaded (maybe) ceramic sleeve to accept the temperature sensor. Without the brass plug, it wont make a proper seal over the ones that most of the places have. I am going to start posting links to what I found out before I got to this thread.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Delphi/117/EG10037/10002/-1

Delphi#117-EG10037 Goes to 90-93 caddy. Not sure the size but I did some more research and it "should" fit any 90-93 4.9L v8 caddy motor. I also found another similar part

http://www.jegs.com/i/Delphi/117/EG10037/10002/-1

Delphi#117-EG10114 This one also looks identical to the one I pulled off. FIts 91-95 caddilac.

As of right now, they are both 72-74$ plus tax and shipping.

I am going to buy the ones off amazon and try it. The oreilly's one is a BWM(or BMW...Id on't know) for 106$ plus shipping and tax since it is a special order item. It is also 5-7 days out.

Also, if you are going to be buying parts of sites that have a review option. Please review it and state what rig your parts are going on so the search would be easier for the next JOE that has a hard to find part like this. I am going to put keywords into this part so google could find it easier.

Does not fit my 1985 Camaro z28 Iroc-z. The Brass plug and the Temp sensor does not fit into the hole that is already drilled. I was told by a O'reilly's employee that my car might be a cali California emissions car.
EGR1019
EGR1192

Does not fit because it doesn't have an opening to accept the temperature sensor or the brass plug although they do look exactly the same. Same base and same diaphragm thing.
EGR1593
EGR104D
EGR1066
EGR1594
Delphi#117-EG10114 117-EG10114 Delphi
Delphi#117-EG10037 117-EG10037 Delphi

I am not totally sure about this one but it appears that it doesn't have the opening like egr1593 and similar.

ACDelco 214-5535

These ones looks like they would do the trick

AIRTEX / WELLS 4F1115 -rockauto Here is a list of alernate OEM parts that are listed on this details page Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 17085815, 17085817, 17087262, 17087263, 17110786, 17110788, 17110790, 17111922, 17111923, 17113406, 17113459, 19210684, EGR1008

EGV394 Standard -rockauto Here is a list of alternate OEM parts that are listed on the details page of this product Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 17085815, 17085819, 17110786, 17110790, 17113406

ACDelco 214-5538 -amazon

when searching using google just put in the part number first. If nothing shows up that helps. type EGR or EGR Valve. If you want to see if it is being sold by a certain website, type their name afterwards. Like. ACDelco 214-5538 amazon

that will show you the first website in amazon.com if they have that part.

Re: EGR - 17085813

The ACDelco 214-5538 is working for me and I passed smog with some help/advice from Dyno Don. So far so good. THis is for an 88' 5.7 IROC, passing in california in 2014.

Good luck, parts people don't have any good info, you have to do all your research yourself as you have found out by the looks of the above post.

Just saying this part DID work for me in my situation, & hope this info helps. It was a major PITA to get it sorted out.

I bought the California emissions egr due to the same reasons you mentioned, it got rid of the code 44 I was getting and stopped my car from running lean but I'm still getting code 32 for egr grounding on startup, gonna replace the temp switch with one from a 85 vette and see if that corrects the problem, previous owner spliced a new pig tail on the temp switch so I'm guessing that's where my problem lies. I started wondering if my car was CA emissions as well but the sticker on the door jam says my car meets all federal emissions standards so I'm throwing that out the window,

Re: EGR - 17085813

yep. That airtex/wells one worked like a champ. Bolted right in and have it back on the road! I really hope this helps people though that have a cali rig in another state. Luckily I don't have to do emissions anymore, I just wanted it to go back to stock. Get some MPG's out of it since it will be my daily driver when ice isn't an issue. Same some money during the warmer months up here in the PNW

Re: EGR - 17085813

will EGR 19209981 work on a 1989 TPI 5.0?

I order one and the box says 19210684 but the stamp on the valve is 19209981.
