I was replacing the starter on my L69 '87 Monte Carlo SS. I tried removing the Y-pipe and broke just about every damn bolt! That led to me buying the Edelbrock TES headers and high-flow cat.

Also , if your looking for third gen specific PIA repairs , how about a vid of changing the frame mounted portion of our engine mounts . The first one I did (my 87 TA) I ended up taking out the springs to get at the hardware hidden in the frame , but by my second one (my 89 Firebird) I had gotten the crazy idea to reach in between the spring and frame and using a stick welder I put a little tack weld on each of the three nuts to hold them to the frame so the bolts would come out . No big welds , just a couple of light tack welds on each that could be broken off in the future should the need ever arise . I shot a little bit of paint in there when I was done to prevent rust and did the job in a couple of hours instead of a couple of days (like the first one I did) .
It is a ROYAL pain! I was replacing my stock rubber mounts with some polyurethane mounts so I had to take the whole unit off. I ended up squeezing between the A-arm and the k-member with an extension and a wobble joint to hold the bolt still while I broke the nut loose with the other hand on top. To get the bolts back through the holes I tied fishing wire to the tip of the thread part of the bolt. Took some bailing wire, made a loop on the end so I could help put the fishing line through the right bolt hole. Had someone above to grab the wire. Then pull the bolt up through the hole and hold it till I could get my my socket with the extension and wobble behind it so I could put the nut on. To do all six bolts it took about 4 or 5 hours.

I'm sure your video will be much easier.... Haha.

Thank you for all of the videos. I especially like the heater core removal since I am in the process of this myself and that has helped a lot. Do you recommend a certain brand? Thanks.

Re: Thirdgen Tech "How To" Videos

Your welcome guys..more videos to come..been feeling under the weather lately

As far has heater cores..ive used the regular ones you find at the auto parts store for like 30$..u can also jb weld the tubes where they exit the heater core cause thats where they usually leak..for an added measure of safety

Re: Thirdgen Tech "How To" Videos

Man you are a godsend here! The ball joint, front end rebuild, steering column, and heater core vids just gave me my blueprint to fix the last few problems on my saved from the grave car. I hate to ask since you do so much here but wny way you could do a vid on the steering box adjustment? I can't tell if my play is the column or box but i'm sure it would be a huge improvement either way.
