Worth the cam swap ? or any other cam suggestions ?
Hi!
I got a 84´ L69 from a Firebird swapped in my 87´ Bird that came with LG4.
Both cars ran with a E4ME cc Quadrajet.
I am still on the E4ME with Computer and will stay with it.
Planning to fine tune the carb later and enhance the CFM from 600 to 650 if needed.
Following modifications are done until today:
Quadrajet Rebuilt and following to suggestions in the board rejetted
EGR & A.I.R. delete
Edelbrock 2101 Performer Intake Manifold
Stronger Fuel Pump, new High Performance Distributor, Coil and 8mm Wires, default delco spark plugs.
Hedman Hedders - Street Headers 68470 (Shorty, 1 5/8" Primarys in 3" Collector with Y Pipe to stock single pipe)
Heated 3 Wire O2 Sensor, Wide Band Sensor currently on its way
Flowmaster 80 Muffler
Stock was, regarding to wikipedia,
L69 - @.050 - 202° in / 206° exh
Currently it is running a jones design cam:
@.050 - 208° in / 210° exh, L/C 112° (not LSA)
More details can be found here:

After reading a lot in the forum I read that this cam should be running very nice in my L69:
@.050 - 214° in / 224° exh, LSA 112° (not L/C)
More details can be found here:

Do you think it is worth the swap and it will be a noticable difference?
its "just" 6° more in intake, but 14° longer in exhaust. Also the LSA lower with the summit cam, as L/C should be little more than LSA what I´ve read in the Cam 101 tutorial.
This car is NOT a daylie driven car, so MPG are not that important to me.
I dont want the car to have all the performance in the 4500-6000 range.
For the future I am planning to spray NOS on the car... like 75 or 100 Shot.
would be great to hear your thoughts

Not worth it at all.
You may even lose average power with the stock L69 compression ratio and that 214 cam.
Either cam will play well with the nitrous.
Even the peanut LG4 cam handled a 100 shot just fine; see sig below.
What trans and gearing are you running?

Re: Worth the cam swap ? or any other cam suggestions ?
Hm, ok so saved a lot of time in this case
Stock 700R4, stock gears currently. got a LSD 3.73 which needs a rebuild for the LSD in the garage. will swap it in the next few month.
you had 13.05 on stock LG4 with the TPI Exhaust and the 3.73 @100 shot ? wow
have you got a stall converter or just stock?

That was an S10 torque converter behind the LG4.
