Distributer problem? Or not? Help??
Hello Thirdgen, I ran into a problem last week.
I realized my car was low on oil, so i changed it. I started hearing a slight tick coming from the engine. It went away pretty quick. well on the way home from the gas station, i heard a cling noise from the engine and my car died. I checked the lifters, rods, carb, fuel pump is fine. Looking over it i realized my distributer was turned slightly, its loose. My car turns over like normal, but i got it too crank, and it ran like crap(realized i forgot to plug the vacuum line back up). I cant figure out the timing, and when my spark tester is plugged into cylinder #1 wire, it doesnt spark much, i have to turn the distributor while cranking to get a spark.
What can i do???

You'll need to get a timing light...unplug the EST bypass connector, set base timing to spec, tight the distributor back down, shut the car off, plug the connector back in.
