Car dies when letting off brake at stop
Hey I have another strange issue lol
While in traffic today with car warmed up (about 200 degrees) while sitting at a stop sign I noticed my idle was 500. It just felt like it was finally idling nice. And then when I let off the brakes it died. It did it again at a stop light.
Didn't happen in the parking lot when I sat in drive with my foot on the brake lol.
Bad fuel filter?
Recent work done to the car:
(Last two weeks)
New starter and transmission cooler line
When cold it throws a ses for running lean but when it warms up there's not an issue. All vacuum lines were replaced by me and new intake seals

Temporarily disconnect the vacuum line for the power brake booster and plug the fitting (at the manifold, not the vacuum line). See if the problem mysteriously goes away.

your idle should be closer to the 600 to 750 range. Do what damon said and post back

I did that and no change, however it has mysteriously vanished. I put it all back to normal and drove it the next day and gone. Drove back home with a lot of traffic and didn't do it once. It's getting old and senile I guess

See how good we fix stuff around here? Just unplug and replug a hose, problem solved!
For our next trick we'll fix a broken crankshaft over the internet by raising the idle speed by half a turn!

And after that fixed a wiped cam lobe by changing your oil

I think it went away when I replaced my vacuum lines to the tb last wee . When it stalled it didn't throw a lean code but since replacement it hasn't died

Why not, it works with computers.
"Ok Maam just turn the computer off and then restart it. Did that fix the problem Maam? Ok plug it in first, now... oh it's turning on. Good. Yes maam I'm glad I could help, have a nice day".

Re: Car dies when letting off brake at stop
Thank you so much for this information.
I had similar experience with my formula 400 and was going crazy after installing a new coil and having the same stall when releasing brake pedal.
I did what you said plugged the line from the manifold to the brake booster, tried to start it , which it didn't, then unplugged the line and put back to how it should be and hey presto my car was alive and stayed alive. Drove my daughter to get ice-cream and the car didn't stall the whole time. Had a great evening due to this advice. I don't even understand how that fixed it, I don't know what disrupting the power booster vacuum line does, but my god it worked.
So many thank yous
Tom
