Looking to get a 305 up to 300hp.
Not looking to go crazy on HP but want to get my stock (headers so far) 305 TPI.
I have a few requests for suggestions. I would like to keep the appearance stock. Besides for the headers which is an easy switch.
I have thought of porting out the plenum and heads. But not sure if that will help enough.
My car is a convertible hence the low request for HP.
I will be adding subframe. I am not sure if that is helpful to RWHP.
Thanks!

the subframe is one of the most important parts for shoring up the frame of your car to handle more power, and better handling in general. Check out this article to make 325hp 305.

It has some heavier Fuel injectors I think 30lbs? Is that a good start? Also what heads will allow me to keep the stock TPI setup.

Your heads, ported and polished will work just fine. Or, World S/R Torquer 305 heads, which are basically your heads if you polished and ported them, possibly with better chambers for combustion. Both of them will work fine with TPI.
Your injectors are more than enough for a 305.
That's about it for a 305.
For a good cam, that would depend on the year of car and if you have a roller motor or flat tappet motor.

Pretty sure it is a roller motor.
I am looking into porting the heads not sure. So much to do and so little money!

I would not bother with porting your stock heads. They would be good heads after they were ported but a set of aftermarket heads would be a better long term investment. The S/R heads would be great. I believe they moved the valves slightly compared to there 350 heads to un shroud the valves a little more. If you do port a set of factory heads get a used set of the aluminum L98 heads to port. I don't know how hard it would be to tune but the LT4 hot cam would sound killer in a 305.
S/R heads, LT4 hot cam and a short ram intake manifold. This is how I would build a fuel injected 305. Match it with some low gears and a stall converter though or it would be a dog off the line.

Re: Looking to get a 305 up to 300hp.
The biggest issue wth porting the heads, is that oftentimes, the cost for porting them runs only a couple hundred less than buying the "better" aftermarket heads. It's something I'm dealing with right now. Porting my Sportsman II's for around $1000, or buying a set of AFR's for $1500.
These are $540 each, so a little more than $1000 for the pair. They were used on the 300hp 305 that Chevy High Performance did back in the late 90's.
World S/R Torquer 305 heads. 58CC chambers, 1.94 intake, 1.5 exhaust.
