Timing experts please chime in.
First a little about my ride.
Crate block 350 4 bolt 8.5/1 compression.
Lunati mild 204/214 @.50 adv 270/280
Edelbrock Headers
Accel Dizzy
World Products heads S/R Torquer 4266
GM Aluminum Intake
3" exhaust
Rochester non cc 4 barrel
The question is what roughly might be my initial timing then advance timing?
The reason I ask is never checked it before I tore it down to put new Intake Gaskets on. I got it all marked so, I can get it real close to what it was but, would like some opinions as to what guys would recommend with the setup.
Many threads I read said for a stock motor 8* initial but, for a mild street build can be roughly 12-14* initial.
Thanks in advance for the input.

14 to 16* initial. Not alot you can do about the mech. advance. It is what it is ubless you want to start modding, grinding, welding the slots and pins in the dist.
Most dist. gives around 18 to 22* of mech advance with 20 being the most common.
so 14 + 20 = 34* total timing.
Most sbc engines likes 32-40* total with 34-36* being the most common.
Vac advance you can adjust it if your dist. has an adjustable vac advance unit and if so you want around 10-15* extra added by the vac advance.

Thanks for chiming in NRider.
Well, she is all back together and runs real good.
I made a call too Lunati and they recommended 8-10 initial and 34 total.
So, I went with about 10*. I will check it again tomorrow and get it more exact once I get the timing tape but, shes a runner for now.
I replaced the WP, Intake gaskets, valve covers and gasket, thermostat and gasket and oil switch while she was torn apart.
Below is when shes torn apart and a before and after. Yes I ditched the air and some other un-needed junk earlier on. LOL
I took and had the aluminum intake glass beaded. The only issue was the heat shield attached to the bottom. I got out three of the four rivets. One broke so, I had to drill it out. I then tapped the holes for little metal bolts. Note to anyone blasting an intake with a shield on the bottom: No matter what you try if you do not remove that shield you still will have sand, glass, granite etc underneath. If you do not get that out it spells big trouble for your motor.
Now I need to order a non AC heater box.
