84 camaro studders and dies @ full acceleration
Hey guys this is my first post here so I just recently bought an 84 camaro z28 with a 305 with an edelbrock carb and automatic transmission for $1000. Car drove fine from the 75 miles I went to pick it up from, guy says all it needs is a battery since it has trouble starting. I get it home and the next day get a battery and the car still won't start. The car only starts with a spray of starting fluid at first start then it will turn on and off the whole day no problems BUT when the gas is pressed all the way down it studders like cuts in and out and will die. This happens when In gear or idle. The car idles fine and when accelerator is pushed slowly to get it revved up its fine but when you push it to fast it dies. I've changed the mechanical fuel pump, fuel filter, pcv valve, cleaned the carb, replaced the battery and terminals, and still the same problem what can this be? Its my first older car since I'm used to owning fourth gens so I'm stumped.

look at the accelerator pump discharge inside the carb when you hit the gas. it should be substantial. if it looks like its not getting enough of a hit then you should take the carb apart and put a new gasket on the acc. pump.
