time for a new block ?
I am thinking it's game over for this engine, any thoughts? Not worried about the scratches. But that sure looks like a crack.

Sleeve? a 305??? ummmm...... seriously, find somebody GIVING theirs away, no sense in spending money on THAT.
Yeah, that looks like it froze. If that place is like that, there's probably plenty of other spots that are fococta as well.
Since you always wanted a 350, now's yer chance.

Re: time for a new block ?
It's the 305 lu5 block the car came with. People around here are crazy , asking $400 for a 305 with no heads.wish I could find someone giving one away. So guess I'm gonna hit the pull a part yards and see if I can find a donor 350.

Re: time for a new block ?
asking
I've had to PAY to have that crap HAULED OFF. Along with 882 heads, Saginaw 4-speeds, and lots of other worthlessness that piled up on my property unbidden. I guess that means I was "asking" $-25 for it but somebody was only willing to accept $-30? (or whatever it was...)

And a locked up '87 LG4 305. I have not pulled it apart yet but if block is good you can have the block for $75

Re: time for a new block ?
I will keep those in mind nightrider, thank you. That's about a 450 mile trip for me, and $80 in gas in the truck.
I'm going to the pick n pull today to scout around. Hoping I can find a late model roller 350.

Well here it is, 1984 LG4 $85 for block ,pistons&rods. 110k miles , no ridge at top of cylinders, still has crosshatch left. Bearings don't look bad, but gonna be replaced anyway.
