I have a 87 GTA with the l98 tpi 164k on the clock. Just got the car when someone had parked it because of a bad fuel pump. So I replaced that as well as the tank. Plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter etc. Car ran great. Then it started cranking longer than usual when cold SOMETIMES. Sometimes as much as 15 sec of cranking and it would stumble to life and smell rich. And when it would do this it would usually drop ignition before you got a mile down the road. Sometimes bad enough that it would stall. Like someone cut the key off. I replaced the ICM and while I was in there I noticed the terminals were growing stuff and the steel components were quite rusty. Cleaned them the best I could and it ran like a top for about 4 days. Now it's starting the long cranks again. I'm thinking pickup coil???
