Re: Sd to maf

All The information on re-pinning the computer is on this site (I think in the TPI section) Most people go the other way and toss the maf for SD though so the writeups are written with that in mind. Why do you think SD is harder to tune? if you have the rom burning equipment you can tune the SD setup as easy as the MAF, And the SD computer/code is in my opinion far superior.

I agree the MAF setup on these cars is garbage and very limited. aThe Speed Density code and ECM is much better. I have also run the 165' ECM on Holden $12P code that is Speed Density and had much better luck than tuning with the early MAF.

I used to tow that line too, but as my builds got more exotic I had more problems tuning them. It's not speed density that is the problem, it's the limitations of the stock ECM.

I'm talking things that idle at 5-7hg and make 550 hp.

That's the tough thing about the internet. You can ask me the same question about two different builds and I'll give you two different answers. What works great for a 350hp street machine doesn't work so well for a 10 second track car, and so on.

You also have less resolution when you go with a larger cam on a speed density application since you might be idling at 85kpa and WOT is around 98kpa..

So in closing, we need to know more about his build.
