swapping the 305 tbi out for a 350 tbi from my running 89 suburban
So my 305 blew a head gasket a couple months ago. I was going to rebuild the heads since sometimes on start up it would smoke and some spark plugs were wet. Well my 89 suburban trans took a crap so I was thinking of just swapping the 350 from the suburban into the camaro. Both are tbi and the 350 in the suburban has less miles and has never overheated. Also I just put a new map sensor, throttle position sensor, coolant temp sensor, new distributor. Is there anything on the truck 350 like a.e the oil pan(since its a truck 350)that will make it not fit into the Camaro. Oh mine also has the T-5 in it. Thanks for the input.

Direct bolt in swap. Pull out, drop in, bolt up and go.
As you know being a T5 you will need to add a pilot bearing to end of crank in the 350 and use your 305's flywheel

Cool thank you. Yeah I was going to put a new clutch on anyways and depending on how the flyweel looks I would get a new one as well.

I was reading a old thread about the swap and it was so confusing when they kept talking about the euc and crap. I was pretty sure it would drop right in but I like to have all my ducks in a row before I start something

It will run ok, but.. maybe look into a custom chip, 350 esc module, and 350 knock sensor. So ive heard.

I am taking everything from my suburban. It's a complete engine just the Trans took a crap so I am going to put the 350 into my camaro in place of the 305. And I have a couple buddies that have a tuning shop that would tune it for me.

Yeah I figured. I went to school to be an automotive machinist. I am going to inspect it and if it's cracked at all some times machining it down won't get the crack out. Had that happen with more than a couple of flywheel but I definitely will try that first before I just buy a new one.
