87 LG4 setting the Ing timing
I have a 87 Camaro with the LG4. I was looking through my FSM and noticed it says the wire to disconnect for the timing was against the firewall between the dist and the evap box. The only wire I found was this one
But I has always disconnected this one in the past.
I have been fighting a rough idle for a really long time and not sure if I have been disconnecting the wrong wire all this time or something else.

LG4, q-jet with the large cap distributor? If so, near the base of the distributor will be a 4-wire connector. Unplug it to have the distributor run at the base timing.
Note that this 4-wire connector originates from the distributor.

'87 should be small cap distributor with single "EST" wire.
The one you show in your 2nd pic is the ECM power wire. Never heard of disconnecting it to set timing, but I guess it would work.
The EST wire is tan with a black stripe. Should be to the left of your first pic (a single wire with connector that comes out of the big harness going over the HVAC housing then goes right back into it).
