Coolant Leak

Hi guys,
I have an 89 IROC Z 350TPI and i have had a large coolant leak for some time. At first, it came into the interior on the passenger side, so I just replaced the heater core. No leaks from heater related hoses either far as I can tell. Just today I ran the car with coolant topped of and searched very carefully for leaks. I found it actually forming and dripping from the very left drivers side corner right under the head gasket, only from the small corner. I'm confused because the car will not shoot even a whisp of vapor from the exhaust at temp and it just runs beautifully, always has. If it was an internal Head gasket leak, it would affect the way it runs and keep getting worse. It only seems to be coming out...Do you think I can get away with using the tightening sequence to re-torque the heads to solve this leak? Thank you all so much.
Fred

Re: Coolant Leak

Doubt it, but, it's certainly worth a try.

It isn't leaking up by the intake, and just running down the seam there is it??

Re: Coolant Leak

Well I definitely saw it seeping out and forming from directly under the gasket/head, but I'll check again thanks

Re: Coolant Leak

Something that works for this type of leak sometimes is the GM coolant sealer tabs. Designed for the early Caddies with aluminum heads that were prone to leak. Not a lot of money and save a bunch of work in this case at least until you can tear into it. Dealer parts departments carry this.

Re: Coolant Leak

Yes thank you I will definitely give those a try! Hopefully with a combination of re-torquing and those tablets I'll be okay.
