Spark Plug Wires: 8mm vs 7mm
I recently decided to replace the spark plugs in my 1987 carbureted V8 5.0L Firebird Formula. After replacing the plugs I decided to replace the spark plug wires also. I went to Autozone and told them the year, make, and model of the car and they sent me home with the new wires. When I got home and opened the box I noticed they were 8mm wires while the wires I was planning to replace were only 7mm. Should I return the 8mm wires and get 7mm wires? Or is it possible that I've been driving around with the wrong wires and the 8mm size is actually correct like the people at Autozone told me? Also, even if 7mm is the right size, what would happen if I put the 8mm wires on anyways?

Pretty sure 8mm is stock.
What you were replacing, of course, could have been .... anything. (and probably was)
If you put 8mm on where 7mm was, main negative effect would be, they'd last longer.
