Need a custom chip, please help, getting screwed

I was or thought having John from custom chips make me a chip. He has yet to deliver and I'm almost done with my build. I'm going to call the bank and stop payment on it, so I need someone else to do it. I tried Scott Hansen but he only does TPI stuff, any other recommendations?

Re: Need a custom chip, please help, getting screwed

It's funny, after this post I miraculously got a message to say it got shipped incorrectly and he's burning a new one and sending it to me. The first one he did went back to him which I paid for and the second one I gave him different specs for-a reburn, has not been returned to him...hmmm. So he's sending another one today. I'm still pensive about what the tune will be, whether it's really any good, I wish I could send the new chip somewhere and have them check what was done to see if I got what I paid for.

Exact same thing happened to me with this clown. I sent him a final message yesterday and put a buyer beware post in the vendor review forum. He told me the same bullshit that it got sent back to him.
And he told me he would get it straightened out right away. It's been 5 weeks so don't count on receiving yours because I am not.

Re: Need a custom chip, please help, getting screwed

I went with Brian Harris of Harris performance. His website is www.tbichips.com He was excellent to deal with. I called and talked with him several times, told him what I was doing and wanted to do prior to ordering. He was very helpful and gave me some tips on how to make things better also. You place your order for the custom chip, then fill out the custom order chip form with al your specs, part numbers, etc. I ordered it on a Wednesday and I got it the following Tuesday, can't beat that.

Outcast, I called my bank, gave them his phone numbers, told them my story about being jerked around and not getting my product, could provide text messages to them for proof if need be. They said keep the texts, we're going to give you your money back and we'll go after him-don't worry about it. The next day the money was in the bank. If you're having trouble getting in touch with him due to his "phone problems" I have alternate numbers for him that he gave me which I'll explain if you need, you can pm me and we'll get together. Go to your bank and get your money bank!!!!

Out-cast, Do you need the other phone numbers? Call Brian, he'll do you right. I haven't finished putting the car back together so I can't tell you how the tune is yet. However I can tell you if you do make changes after you already have a chip made, his re-burns are free.

I have dealt with Brian since 2009, he was always pretty good to deal with for me until recently. I needed a custom chip built to run my car after a rebuild, he was hesitant to custom reflash my chip for me, but he did (for another $200). I was data logging for 2 months, could only get a hold of him once a day, and then some times he would go 2 weeks to get back to me. He never would ask for the chip back for some re-tuning, he just had me set the timing 4 different times, adjust my idle 3 times, and the last time i talked to him, he wanted me to crank my timing up another 6-8 degree's on top of the 10 degree's i already have. Needless to say, i quit talking to him. The car runs so rich it burns your eyes and the plugs are black. I have an appointment with TPIS in Chaska Mn. July 19.

Re: Need a custom chip, please help, getting screwed

Great, I hope it helps. I did not let him know what I was doing until after the fact. I didn't want him to come up with some other lame excuse that the chip may be in the mail or something. I sent him a text, for a matter of record to that last number I gave you and told him the bank was coming after him the funds and not providing product as agreed. However the bank did tell me if the chip does show up in the mail to send it back return receipt requested so there is a signature from him upon pick at his local post office and paper trail to go along with it-you have to eat that less than $5 cost. Also, call your bank if you get it and then provide them with any tracking information so they have that information also. It is very important to get a name, direct if possible phone number, and or identifying employee number of who you speak with so that one person can direct this evolution. If you have to call the bank back and say I spoke with "someone" that very well may make this process more difficult for you.

I am fed up with asking these guys to make the situation right. I really dont want to talk to him because it will be a very one sided call with me telling him to F^&% right off!
If i get hold of him and he gives me no positive answer I will just let the bank deal with getting my cash back.

So did you end up getting the chip when you told him the bank was coming for the cash?

Re: Need a custom chip, please help, getting screwed

I too work nights, I know what you mean. You won't get him at his original number, you'll have to use the other ones. I hate to tell you it's a lost cause but it is-cut your losses, that's what I did. I also thought, if I'm getting the runaround over getting it, how good can it be once I do? The trust factor of his quality came in into question for me. If you get into it with him it just might make matters worse. The bank will get you your money back and the pound of flesh you're looking for....lol After you get your money, then call and give the once over.

Any luck Outcast? BTW I did not get the chip. He did try to call me but I did not answer. I figure if I have to go through all that to get your attention it's not worth it at that point.

They credited my Card yup. They said they are doing an investigation which takes 4-6 weeks. So not sure if they would charge me back for some reason if they feel I don't have a claim??
I didn't call him yet no. I will wait until this weekend. I work in a very remote area and I have no cell service. I don't want to call him from my office phone and then they would have my work number.

He would I guess have to show proof of shipping, even then that doesn't mean you got it. After my debacle he never sent mine to try and show that he did after the fact. He's got to know he's busted.

It's unfortunate because a member on this forum recommended me to him-he had good success apparently, so I figured why not follow suit. Then, there were some posts that were attempting to let me know he was a slouch, but I figured since I talked to him and he seemed on the up and up, I decided to give him a try and hopefully dismay the nay sayers, but I've been wrong before, and I am again....LOL

I just want to say what a professional and knowledgeable job TPIS did tuning my engine today. The results are 364HP @ 5900 rpm and 337 TRQ @ 5500 rpm at the rear tires. Now the numbers are a little low because I found out my fuel pump started to drop in pressure after 6000 rpm. Jim Hall is the guy that does the tuning at TPIS, and what a nice guy he is. He is sure i will add another 20-30 HP with the new pump, so i came home with a new pump that i have to get in soon. It also was over 90 degree's and quite humid today. The Mini Ram really pulls a flat torque curve from 4000 to 6000 rpm.

Just came across this post again tonight. I tried calling a couple different numbers and NA.
I got my money back from Visa so after he didnt answer I sent a couple nasty emails, a couple weeks apart just to remind him hes a douchbag. And I will probably continue to do so just because i feel like irritating him!

That's too funny!!! He's a joke all the way around. I must admit he DID talk a good game for sure. He told me he went to car shows and solicited business there. I bet those people got their stuff since they were local, cause if not they would've beat his a$$
