Tps

Car stalls out almost immediately after I turn it on, I just replaced the iac and now I'm looking at the tps. I disconnected it then turned on the vehicle and it worked but the rpm goes surging up and down, what does that mean ? I have a 92 camaro rs 5.0 tbi. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Tps

Monitor the supply voltage and output voltage to and from the TPS. That should answer the question.

Re: Tps

Did the service engine soon light come on? If so, did it set a code?

Is the surging happening while the TPS is disconnected? If the TPS is disconnected, the computer is forced to go to a default mode, in which it just tries to keep the engine running. In this condition, it may not run well.

Re: Tps

Yes it was surging and I was going to check the volts but as I removed it to inspect it, the inside was very dirty and it fell apart, I'm sure I'm going to have to purchase another one. Hopefully it fixed the problem if not then I'll check the o2 sensor, the car had been sitting a few years so it's bound to have problems
