187 head swirl ramp removal
Hello tech gurus,
I know I should swap to an L31 from this '88 L03, but, for the time being, would I hit water if I was to do mild bowl porting and remove as much of the intake swirl ramp as possible?
A set of 081's, 416's, 059's, or .030" trimmed 062's would be simpler, but would this approach even be feasible?
Would the increase in chamber volume from metal removal lower the compression too much?
The temporary plan is a non computer recurved HEI, 600 vac sec carb or Qjet, Performer intake, 4309 Mallory fpr, LT1 cam, shorty headers with existing Hooker 3" catback.
Even though I'm 62, I still hope sofa doesn't flame me for going into the short block etc!
