2nd alternator, same issues...
My 1983 z28 is reading high voltage on the gauge. It was so high at some point that now my radio, interior lights, and hatch button no longer are working. It was at 14-15 with a/c, head lights and radio on and higher when no accessories are on. Now it is going higher while I accelerate
Into the red of my gauge. I brought the first
Alternator back and the diode and regulator were bad (3 months old) and the new one is reponding the same way with even higher
Voltage now. Is there a resistor after the alternator from plug/connection to battery? I'm not driving it until we can all figure this out. Any advice would be appreciated. I can text videos if someone would like to
See. Thanks Randy

I have seen factory voltage gauges read pretty far off I would confirm that it really is charging that high with a multi meter first before going any farther. If it is the alternator where are you getting them from?

Sounds to me like the alt is fine. Nothing wrong with it at all.
Check the voltage with some actual test equipment if you're worried about it. (which you shouldn't be, but w/e, checking is free and eeeeeezy and painless) The "sporty" trim package in the dash is NOT any such thing. About all it's good for is, if it "always" reads one thing, then all the sudden one day out of the blue it reads something else; that way you know something went bad. It is NOT reliable as an absolute indicator with pinpoint accuracy.
Replace the CTSY fuse. Then all those things you mentioned, which are all on that circuit, will work again. Life will then be good.

There is no "that little circuit"; only a fuse and some wire.
Replace the fuse anyway. Whaddya got to lose?

Fuse being the popped one. The mechanic it was a splice that someone did in the past that was not any good. I
Thought it was an in line fuse but it
Was a butt connection with shrink seal on it. Thanks
