With a 2.8L? I am guessing at least a really nice turbo setup or I cannot imagine the others were trying. Even old civics are faster. The 5-speed 2.8s are only good for mid 17s at best. I bet the reason you were not far behind the SS was he could not get traction for the first 3 gears.

Yea he raped me but its cool the I met the guy later at a local wing joint he said it could pull a 12.2 we had some beers. Honestly around here not many ricers want to race or really anybody for that matter maybe I just don't go looking but seems like no one is really interested at least when I have the TA. For some reason I end up getting more harley guys wanting to race me on my bike than I ever do in my car. But it was a nice car all red no kit decent looking exhaust just an oval muffler with a small rolled tip very well done. I think it has a turbo B18C1 swap.

Looked kinda like this

Huh. I wonder why anybody would dump money into those. You get ricers to go fast, but if you dump the same money into somthing like a camaro, you'll go faster. Generally speaking of course.

I would guess to do something out of the ordinary it is not too hard to make a 12 second camaro and there are a lot out there, kinda like a 1000hp supra if you want one just buy the kit, but a civic that old might be more of a challenge. I gotta imagine nothing funnier than making some rich *** in a vette look slow in your 20 year old civic. Hell I saw a video of a Geo metro running 9s with a 3.8 GNX motor I love that idea what a sleeper. Either way it was a cool car and a humbling experience getting wrecked by 1.8L of raw power hopefully he will be up for another run when I get my vortec swap done.

Keeping the 355 just putting on some modded vortec heads and a new manifold. I am hoping for close to 400hp when all is done. Then I just gotta hope the trans and rear end stay together.

Yea I got a T5 and a spare T5 in the garage a 4th gen alumn drive shaft and a locking rear with 3.73 factory gears. The car was an old L69. I am gonna brace the rear with a new cover it is the least I can do then drive the T5 nicely until I can afford a T56 swap.

well yes the ss was a cloud of tire smoke more than a car, and tire smoke smells, but i have a 700r4, however i have lightened my car considerably and with the 700r4 you can actually setup for launches, i have really grippy tires on the back and no idea what my rear end gear is but my car will get to 60 in about 4.?-5.0 seconds and thats with the automatic add that to a "tuned pedal" and great timing off the line for me (not always a rolling start) and the suspension is setup great for corners (some of the civics and the g6 were on some windy mountain roads)(one of them was drifting i just used the handbrake and tried to power slide, but i still finished ahead of him technically winning) and i've never timed it and none of these were on a track, so no idea if its a 1/4 mile, 1/8th mile, 1/2 mile idk but its a pretty long straight and it starts with a large hairpin, i love that damn road

Reminds me when we used to race bikes, the old trick was to challange some guy at a stop light. Always choose to be the bike on the right. Just as the light turns, you reach over, smack their kill switch, and causally drive off. Wins races every time.

98 T/A
94 Z28
350z (Turbo from what I heard)
WRX

Glad to add that damm Civic to the list... Guy looked like a total douchebag and kept revving at me since I like to take off near 2200rmp which makes the 4.3 sound like a V8. Failed attempt at a fly by with him on my rear bumper and couldnt pass me until lettting off at 80.

Yes yes I know not 3rd gen but the damm 4.3 is the only thing that keeps me somewhat happy until I finish my 86. It might even get a LT1 swap itself soon.

Re: Post your kills/losses here

Slapped on my plates for a last drive before the last good weather goes. Write down about 3 kills in the first hour after it left the garage.

Anyways

86 Firebird LT1 Swap, Bolt-ons/Stalled/Tuned

Kills:

Scion TC
96-00 Civic Hatchback
S13 240sx

Losses:
None so far.

Don't mess with a Firebird thats minding its own business cruising along the speed limit but when you cut me off and rev your stock 4cyl at me, just prey the next light doesn't turn red on you like these idiots.

Lets just say the Yank SS 3600 makes red light races pretty darn fun.

Re: Post your kills/losses here

No kills or loses in my camaro because well it's a bone stock camaro and it's slow
Now with my other car
Kills:
Countless STIs and EVOs (there really not fast at all)
Camaros mostly 4th gens
Lots of newer mustangs
350z (waste of gas)
Some "built" hondas
55 bel air wagon 383 with a 180 hit
Some diesel trucks (no idea why someone would try to make a diesel fast)
69 chevelle with a 871 blown 454 (on street tires really just a show car)
Srt4 neon
Srt8 jeep

Probably forgetting some
Loses: none on the street yet.

1978 g-body Malibu nitrous 406 nine inch with a 4:56 gear driven to highschool daily (when nice out)

Ive heard this before, from a cobra owner no less, race anyone anytime, but not today cuz i gots armorall on drag radials.
I sez ok, tnt wed nite heads up, full trim. Bring ur radials, ice, race gas, wallet. Leave bs at home.

Re: Post your kills/losses here

Kill-
86 Mustang GT
200,000 miles Ran a 10.3x in the eighth at Chandler Motorsports Park, he ran like a 13.xx. He was short shifting and claimed it was spinning bad... there were 500 rwhp cars hooking that night.

Losses-
2009 Civic Si sedan
Street racing, we went from a dig and I pulled on him hard, but in 3rd my car fell on its face and his car started pulling like hell. From a 40 roll he had me by about a car length when we got to 85. Tried again and got the jump, it was closer but he still got me by about half a car before I let off.

Jeep SRT8-
Got up next to him on the highway and we both went for it, no honk or anything official. Got smoked. I'm not a very big straight line guy (like it, just not that into it) and I hate SUV's with a passion, but if I was into that and I had to buy a mall cruiser that would be the one.

There are faster cars out there but I still love how thirdgens drive and mine will at least hold (most of) them off in the twisties.
That said, once I drop some lbs off the car, get headers, make an L69 air cleaner, mess with the valve train and play with the carb metering and ignition timing it should at least hold its own...
