'88 Firebird Formula Steering Column
Hey everyone, first post on this site, although I've used it from time to time, pretty great.
Car: 88 Firebird formula, 305tbi, 700r4
Had the ignition replaced a couple years ago by a buddy's garage, but they told me they couldn't quite get the one bolt tight, and now the steering assembly above the Tilt has gotten loose.
One of my mechanic friends said it might be a stripped bolt, but he never took it apart to look at it.
Had a couple general questions:
1) How hard is it actually to replace a steering column? I've seen some of the tutorials but I've only done a few limited things before myself (alternator, and did front brakes with a buddy's help), so I'm definitely not an expert. My main concern is screwing up the steering column, or getting in to a situation where I need to replace the column and render my car undriveable, as I have no alternate car.
This leads me to my 2nd question:
2) Does anyone know of an honest mechanic that has expertise with these cars or older GM cars in general? Whether it be a garage or someone who has just worked on a lot of these cars. I'm a student so I'm also not exactly well off.
This car's my daily driver, and been pretty reliable so far.
Just looking for more information, any good mechanics, their rates. Unsure of what I should do at this point. Appreciate any help, thanks!

You need to tell us where you are Erik! No good anyone suggesting a mechanic in Windsor if you live in Kingston!
