I wish I could bring my car out to this...unfortunately I won't be able to make it. I will be in Atlanta at G14 with my Z that weekend.

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
I would like to try and make it this year. I am attending school Out in Pennsylvania but am originally from Indy. Would like to make the trip back because ive been wanting to attend 3rd gen fest for years. just never have my car going around the time of the event. but hopefully this year will be different. would love to see all the cars in one place. i am a addict i have had about 18 of these cars since i was 16 with a 86 berlinetta v6 5-speed being my first and i havent been able to get away from them since hope to see you all there!

I definitely will try to make it.
I am curious as to seeing where my Camaro will stand in the "Stock" department since (both fingers crossed) I still have the original tires on her (and plenty more).

geez just what this show needs ANOTHER trailer queen
_______________
How bout you drive your car from Illinois to California? Putting someone down for bringing a car that far is just ridiculous. How about supporting a fellow third gen and appreciating the fact he is willing to travel cross country and be apart of the event!

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
That's an awesome picture.
I have been riding the fence, I know I posted that I was going to be at the Atlanta Fbody gathering that weekend, but I'm short on money right now and Crete, IL is much closer to St Louis. The only thing is, being a moderator for Z28.com, there will be a lot of my friends at Atlanta, so I'm really trying to decide what to do here. If I go to Atlanta, I know I will be one of only a handful of 3rd gens in the midst of mostly 4th and 5th gens.

I don't think I have ever seen your car in action. In the pictures I've seen, it's always either just sitting there on the grass for a photo op or it's on your trailer probably going to the next grassy area. Do you ever drive the car? I mean like burnouts and wheelies or something?
By the way, pics or it didn't happen....

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
hey man 14.2 at 92mph isn't that bad for my car right?
So basically you're looking for pics like this right? Sitting next to the trailer on the grass.
that better?
around town....
at the track again...
ohhhh and what i did right in front of thirdgenfest one year.
better now? I just get double the mileage when trailering it, so why not?

Yup, I have to say that first pic is my favorite. It's just so unique that it's hard not to like it. lol
What times are you really running? 1.1xxx?
There's only one way to find out if the vert will survive. I say do it but tend to say sure to a lot of things...

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
orr89,ive seen the clips of your car in action and im an older dude but i still get wet dreams thinking of blasting down the strip in 9 seconds in your car.id love to go for a ride at third gen fest and the cops are taken care of,no worries there.i will start a campaign to have your ride transported up here anyway it takes. if need be we bop over to joliet strip.
i want to second the above motion, keep them fords at least 2 miles away and park them 4th gens in front of the fords but still 1.98 miles away.its third gen fest. let them start 4th gen fest and fordfest if they want.

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
orr,all the cars are unique in their own way but watching them videos and listening to,and concentrating on the sounds of them runs is incredible. yes theres always a faster car but man........thats close to a true street car. i know "any" car can be a street car but yours seems like you can open the garage, turn key and drive it all night in the 9s w/o touching a thing.. thats flat out incredible.love how its kinda "slow" off the line but then just screams when the boost kicks in.you can tell by the way you just flat out fly past those other cars. well done my freind.

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
Thanks again. That was the goal with this car. Some bugs to work out but how i drive it on the street is how it runs at the track...minus the wheel change for the track and some changes to the shock settings. The goal later this year is I hope to add drag radials to my street rims and beable to drive in the track, lay down mid 9's and go home without changing anything

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
uhm 10:15-ish i think, guys show up earlier to BS for a while, then we all run down there. Takes around 35 minutes or so taking normal streets instead of the highway so we can all get together. Stop on the main street of my subdivision for some sweet pics every year as well. Here's some pics from when I had my enclosed trailer along with a shot from the top of the trailer looking down at the row of cars.

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
I guess I will have to post now. Man I cant wait.
Steve's car might lead us there but mine is usually the First car in line that drives. haha I mean if lead Steve would not be able to keep up. BTW who's Nice looking IROC is that in those pics you posted?
Hopefully we will have a caravan of cars like we did a few years ago.
I am already planning what I should do to my car before thirdgen fest this year...

Well depending if get everything done or not will be a big factor if I can go or not. Well maybe if I can get the cowl hood, a new fender, paint and maybe the headers. I dont want a car that not all the same color sitting next to all the nice ones. If I get it done I think my car could make the like six hour drive fromt the stl area.

trust me there's PLENTY of cars that have mismatched paint at this show. One year I brought basically a bare shell with a cage in it . No doors no hood no fenders no hatch. Still was good times.

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
Who cares what your paint looks like. In my opinion, it's just uneeded weight. If my vehicles wouldn't rust without paint I would be running plane metal for sure. Going along with that, paint it white to save weight. White should theoretically be lighter because there aren't any pigments in the paint.
Seriously though, the paint on my car looks like **** up close but I still took it there last year and got many compliments on the car. People easily look past the paint to notice that one thing (or more) that sets one car apart from another. No matter the state the vehicle is in they are still awesome cars. I'm actually thinking about going this year without any interior other then seat belts, a dash and front seats since I have a race the following Sunday and likely won't have time to get it all back out.

Don't worry about how your car looks. There's usually quite a few cars in rough condition here every year. We also try to group cars together with others in similar condition so you won't have to worry about being parked next to the nicest cars here.

Re: Third Gen Fest '10'
I know it shouldnt bother me but it would. The hood and fender should be on within the month. I could probably get painted in time but I am not sure should be warm enough now. So if I didnt get it done I would have black hood, black fender, gray primer on a back quarter panel, and the faded blue colors. With brand new shiny rims ...

I should be coming to this since my car will be ready....I Hope....the only thing(s) I need to finish up are fixing the quarter panels, new door and t-top weatherstripping, and paint. I also have to make sure its not going to fail for the 1 hour + drive.
