Vortec head spark plugs?

This my be a dumb question but would the spark plugs for vortec heads be different than what are used on stock L98 heads. I didnt think about maybe needing different plugs until today.

THANKS

Re: Vortec head spark plugs?

Yes they are different; the Vortec heads use longer plugs. You should get plugs for a 1996-1998 350 Chevy truck, as they came with the Vortec heads.

Re: Vortec head spark plugs?

THANKS for the help. Could it cause damage or performance loss by using the other plugs. Either way tomrrow I will get the right ones but was just wondering. THANKS again.

Re: Vortec head spark plugs?

Mr43 off the top of my head, think thats right.

All the truck plugs are platinum and last I checked (multiple yrs ago) they didnt have a non plat equivelant in delco(sure thats changed)

I know they are extended reach plugs(long snout) and the MR was marine plug all the vortec crate engines use.

Re: Vortec head spark plugs?

I was kinda wondering the same thing. Because my L98 plugs thread nowhere near towards the combustion chamber on my Vortec heads. I've heard that a specific Ac Delco plug will actually work. I don't remember the part number though. Maybe someone could enlighten the community.....

Re: Vortec head spark plugs?

If u actually search I've posted the exact plug a couple times.

I'm not at home with the car(at school), so do some searching under my name and you should find the delco number.

Re: Vortec head spark plugs?

I got the plugs today and will get them in and hopefully have it going by this weekend. I was told they are gapped at .60 and thats what is recommended. I have a MSD coil so that should help out with that big of a gap but just that that was a lot. Is that right. I didnt plan on spending $7 a plug but hopefully it helps out.

THANKS AGAIN
